When Vail Resorts launched their summer Epic Discovery program, they wanted to make sure that visitors would not only have fun on the popular thrill rides such as the mountain coaster and ziplines, but that they would also learn about nature and our role within the connected ecosystem that we live in. We started by immersing ourselves on the mountain and conducting workshops with Vail executives and The Nature Conservancy. With learn through play as our strategy and awestruck as an emotional goal, we imagined 12 different interactive interpretive moments across the mountain's trails. Each one helps visitors appreciate a different aspect of nature's wonders—motivating them to become stewards of our environment and its ecosystems.
